I tried reading while my girlfriend was watching 60 minutes. It didn’t work. Mike Wallace was talking about slander during the primary season and my ears pricked right up. He was interviewing these three white guys in a living room in Ohio about Obama. This one guy was visibly nervous. Sweating and shaking…he said he thought he’d be voting for Obama, but he was not sure about something. (OK…we know he can’t make himself vote for a woman…even though he’s scared sh*tless to vote for Obama?). So Wallace asks what he was scared of.
Guy says it’s the fact that Obama didn’t do the pledge of allegiance…heard it at the feed store or something…he went on to say that Obama was a Muslim…I’m sure he double checked that fact at the feed store also. Of course Wallace corrected him. He said that Obama is not a Muslim. (I personally don’t care if he is…). And I think anyone with any sense knows that this pledge crap is just that…crap. I believe the official story is that the photo shown shows them singing the Star Spangled Banner or something (with the flag behind them—hey guys…they’re not facing the flag…therefore not pledging). Whatever. Point is, these yahoos from Ohio have no education, and no clue about what’s going on in the world. BUT, they are able to vote and able to marry and able to do what ever the f*ck they want to do, and they are scared of Obama. I’m really surprised they’re not Republicans…really.
So the story’s not over.
Mike Wallace then goes to Clinton. He shows the picture of Obama in the ceremonial garb, tells the Muslim story then asks. “Hillary, are you behind all this?”. My girlfriend had to physically hold me back from destroying the TV. Luckily Clinton had a reply.
She said. Why Mike, I’ve had enough things said about me to understand how terrible they are. No, of course I didn’t. Mike Wallace…you stupid assh*le. Are you one of the uneducated, straight, conservative people this rant is about? Clinton and Obama aren’t calling each other Muslims and dykes. The N-word and the C-word. It’s militia, conservative, hood-wearing, white, hate groups that can’t stand that a woman and an African American man, both which can run circles around the current president are running for office. Quit pitting Obama against Clinton. You should be protecting them against these crazy groups that historically have stopped at nothing to spread their hate against women, African Americans, and yes…gays and lesbians.

Well said. Well said. I couldn’t agree more. (I’m surprised those guys weren’t republicans, too. I bet they will be when the get to the voting booth… if they bother to go… let’s hope they don’t…)
As a gay man, I have to say that even though I did vote for Obama in the Massachusetts Primary, I would not have if he were in any way related to the Islamic Religion. I know that the vast majority of Muslims are not affiliated with the extremists, however, Islamic law is very oppressive to women and gay men are hanged in Iran. I know that some Christian Fundamentalists can be scarey as well, but Islam oppresses more.

Great post, Darlin’.
You’ve got a point, Jos76…I guess what I meant to say was that I am watching Obama’s actions and past deeds as a politician and using them as a compass for his future as a president, not really looking at his race or religion to stererotype, as that guy did on 60 minutes. Aways good to see you here…
