Thanks to Philadelphia Will Do:

With a strong tailwind — 9.1 miles per hour — Tyson Gay ran an incredible 9.68 in the finals of the 100 meters at the Olympic trials over the weekend.

In an unrelated story, the American Family Association — a Christian group more concerned with hating gays than loving their neighbor — recently launched a news outlet, OneNewsNow, and directed editors to replace all instances of the word “gay” with “homosexual.” (I have no idea why.) And, naturally, the website ran a story on the wind-aided fastest time ever:

Tyson Homosexual was a blur in blue, sprinting 100 meters faster than anyone ever has.

His time of 9.68 seconds at the U.S. Olympic trials Sunday doesn’t count as a world record, because it was run with the help of a too-strong tailwind. Here’s what does matter: Homosexual qualified for his first Summer Games team and served notice he’s certainly someone to watch in Beijing.

“It means a lot to me,” the 25-year-old Homosexual said. “I’m glad my body could do it, because now I know I have it in me.” [...] After the race, Homosexual and Dix looked at each other and slapped palms, then hugged.

The story’s since been fixed, but Google News has preserved the headline: “Homosexual runs wind-aided 9.68 seconds to make Olympics.”

Internationally-acclaimed designer Tom Ford is set to become even more famous.

It was announced that he will be dressing James Bond in the next movie in the long-running spy thriller franchise. Mr Ford worked with Quantum of Solace’s costume designer Louise Frogley and provided made-to-measure tailored clothing and casual wear including evening wear, suits, shirts, knitwear, ties and accessories as well as exclusive eyewear worn by the James Bond character.

Daniel Craig will play Bond for the second time, though fashionistas have noticed there was no mention of swimwear in today’s announcement. This may indicate that Bond will not be reprising his iconic blue pants moment from the last film, Casino Royale.

A disappointment for Johann Hari, who did make it onto the Pink List.

The Independent columnist was involved in a fracas with Daniel Craig at an event last year.

Craig called him a “fucking fool” after Hari made the mistake of complimenting him on his physical appearance in Casino Royale. The actor was reported to be unhappy at constant references to his body as opposed to his equally impressive acting.

Tom Ford now spends much of his time in London as a targeted global expansion plan falls into place. He is to open more than 100 free standing Tom Ford retail stores worldwide.

“I could not be happier to be dressing Daniel Craig in the next James Bond film,” said Mr Ford.

“It is an honour to move forward with this iconic character and there is no better man to dress in the world than James Bond.”

Tom Ford made his name designing for Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent before launching his own brand three years ago.

Gay ally considered as Obama’s running mate

The highest-ranking female officer in the history of the United States Army is a contender for the Democratic party’s Vice Presidential nomination.

Lieutenant General Claudia J Kennedy, a retired three star general, has publicly supported campaigns to end the ban on openly gay, bisexual or lesbian people serving in the US Armed Forces.

While more than a dozen people are being considered as Barack Obama’s running mate, there is a core of his advisers that argue he should appoint a woman to assist him in retaining Democrats and Independents who supported Hillary Clinton’s candidacy.

Ms Kennedy, who served for more than 30 years, has a background in Army Intelligence.

She served as an adviser to John Kerry during his unsuccessful bid for the Presidency in 2004 and endorsed Senator Clinton for President.

Choosing her as the Vice Presidential nominee would help to counter the expected Republican focus on Senator Obama’s perceived lack of military and international experience.

John McCain, a war hero who was held as a prisoner of war by the North Vietnamese for five years, is the Republican nominee.

American voters traditionally warm to military leaders taking political roles.

Most recently former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Colin Powell served as President Bush’s first Secretary of State and was often talked of as a contender for the White House in his own right.

Presidents such as George Washington, Andrew Jackson, Ulysses S Grant and Dwight D Eisenhower managed to translate their reputation for leadership from the battlefield to the Oval Office.

Other prominent female candidates include a two well-respected state Governors, Kathleen Sebelius of Kansas and Janet Napolitano of Arizona, John McCain’s home state.

However, several strong male candidates are in contention for the VP slot, among them John Edwards, Al Gore, and Senators Joe Biden and Chris Dodd.

Under US federal law passed in 1993 referred to as “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” more than 12,000 men and women have been dismissed because of the sexual orientation.

An estimated 65,000 lesbian and gay service members serve on active duty and in the reserves of the United States military, according to the Service Members Legal Defense Network, a non-profit legal services, watchdog and policy organisation dedicated to ending discrimination against and harassment of military personnel.

Barack Obama previously told leading gay publication The Advocate he supports a repeal of the gay ban and is hopeful it can be achieved.

“I think there’s increasing recognition within the Armed Forces that this is a counterproductive strategy,” Senator Obama told The Advocate.

“We’re spending large sums of money to kick highly qualified gays or lesbians out of our military, some of whom possess specialties like Arab-language capabilities that we desperately need.

“That doesn’t make us more safe.”

Polls show that 79% of Americans support allowing gays to serve openly.

Retired high-ranking military leaders, such as former Joint Chiefs Chairman John Shalikashvili, have called for an end to the law, which is estimated to have cost American taxpayers more than $364m (£182m) since its inception.

Half of US Air Force gay ban dismissals are women

New figures obtained by an organization dedicated to fighting the ban on openly gay, lesbian and bisexual people serving in the US Armed Forces show that women are disproportionately affected.

627 people were discharged last year from the country’s military under a law introduced in 1993 referred to as “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.”

In the US Army, women make up 14% of soldiers but 46% of those dismissed in 2007 under DADT.

In the US Air Force they were 49% of the dismissals, but only 20% of personnel are women.

“Women make up 15 percent of the armed forces, so to find they represent nearly 50 percent of Army and Air Force discharges under “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” is shocking,” Aubrey Sarvis of the Service Members Legal Defense Network told the New York Times.

“Women in particular have been caught in the crosshairs of this counterproductive law.”

Retired high-ranking military leaders, such as former Joint Chiefs Chairman John Shalikashvili and Lieutenant General Claudia Kennedy, have called for an end to the DADT law, which is estimated to have cost American taxpayers more than $364m (£182m) since its inception.

More than 12,000 men and women have been dismissed since 1993.

An estimated 65,000 lesbian and gay service members serve on active duty and in the reserves of the United States military, according to the SLDN, which is a non-profit legal services, watchdog and policy organisation dedicated to ending discrimination against and harassment of military personnel.

The most senior US military veteran in the House of Representatives has called for an end to the ban.

Democrat Congressman Joe Sestak of Pennsylvania, who served 31 years in the Navy, retiring with the rank of three-star Admiral, is one of seventeen veterans in Congress who want to repeal the law.

Nearly 150 of his Congressional colleagues have lent their support to the Military Readiness Enhancement Act which would repeal the law and allow lesbian, gay and bisexual personnel to serve openly.

“It is easy for me to see why “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” should be repealed,” said Congressman Sestak.

“Once you have served in war and faced danger with a gay service member, how can you come home and say gay people should not enjoy equal rights?”

The issue of gays and lesbians serving in the Armed Forces still divides politicians in the US.

For the rest of the countries in the NATO alliance, the claims and counter-claims about unit cohesion and the “influence” of gays on fighting men seem like echoes from another time.

The Dutch lifted their ban on gays in 1974, Australia followed in 1992 and Canada soon after.

Gay, lesbian and bisexual people have served openly in the British Armed Forces since 2000.

Nearly all other Western nations allow openly gay, bisexual and lesbian people to serve openly.

In the UK the British Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force not only allow gay people to serve but actively supports them.

The Navy and Air Force are members of the Stonewall Diversity Champions program, a good practice forum where employers work with Stonewall and each other, to promote lesbian, gay and bisexual equality in the workplace.

Everyone loves a list, and After Ellen has a list of women that have come-out, loud and proud as “totally hetero!”

# 1 on the list: Jenna Jameson.

You might know her from such movies as “The Masseuse, Hollywood Orgies, or Porno Revolution”.

The following excerpt is from this article in Paper magazine:

[S]he and her girlfriend Nikki Tyler, with whom she was living at the time, agreed to do a soft-core girl-on-girl film together. “Girl-on-girl was easy and natural. Then they offered me lots of money to do boy-girl.” Jenna’s first experience with straight porn was anything but hot. “The thing that turned me off was that he sweat on me. At the time, I was mostly gay. Women don’t sweat on you. That grossed me out.”

While Jameson has stated that she is bisexual, and that she has slept with 100 women and 30 men off-screen in her life, she has also stated she is “totally hetero”. But she also admits that the best relationship she ever had was her lesbian love affair with porn actress Nikki Tyler, which she documents in her autobiography. They lived together at the start of her porn career and again before her second marriage. Famous male boyfriends discussed in her autobiography include Marilyn Manson and Tommy Lee.

#2 Carly Simon.

Just last month Carly Simon told the Bay Area Reporter that she didn’t think of herself as “not gay” and in fact, strongly implied that she has had same sex experiences.

Bay Area Reporter:I’m wondering if Cyndi called you and asked you to be a part of the True Colors tour, might you get involved?
Carly Simon: Well, the part that I could be involved in is the gay and lesbian part. The part that would be hard for me is to commit to a tour because I’m not very comfortable being on stage. But the part that would be easiest for me would be singing on behalf of all of us. I don’t consider myself to be not gay.
BAR:Wow! Well, it’s great to have you as part of the family.
Carly Simon: Thank you! I mean, I’ve enlarged all of my possibilities. There are a lot of extremely personal stories to tell about that, but we won’t go into that right now. Let’s just say that it just depends upon who I’m with.

Then, just a few days ago she denied those previously self-perpetuated rumors on the Howard Stern Show.

Have I made love to a woman? No. Now, I have been ‘come on’ to, but I was too uptight. But I wish that I had. I think that I’m too old for that (now). I have a fantastic boyfriend now who’s almost a woman.

Too old? Oh, come on, Carly. Age ain’t nothing but a number.

#3 Denise Richards.

Denise Richards never declared herself to be queer, but she sure had a steamy scene with Neve Campbell in Wild Things, so what the hell…

Just a couple of weeks ago, she announced, “No, I’d never do that – I love men!”

Then she continued, “I admit I have a weakness for guys that have dark hair and are passionate in bed, what is wrong with that?”

Let’s be real. Anyone who has a chance to make out with Neve Campbell in a swimming pool…

Next week, a list of famous actors that think they are circus performers…
