The sexy world of English football has gotten a little gayer over the past few years with David Beckham’s constant homoerotic images gracing the pages of every male magazine there is, but this week, one of his teammates may have been trying to get in on some of the action. A Spanish tabloid published photos of Real Madrid midfielder Jose “Guti” Hernandez making out with what appeared to be another man.

The 31-year-old footballer, who goes by the name Guti, has been a star player for the Real Madrid since joining the club in 1995, and currently is serving as team captain.

His life away from the field includes a marriage to Spanish television star Arancha de Benito, and the couple has two children. With that information readily known, it was a big surprise to soccer fans when the tabloid rag Cuore posted pictures of the soccer stud kissing another man.

The media ran wild with speculations, and even his wife stated to the local press that the couple was taking a break. Like Beckham, Guti, has been long considered a gay icon in Spain and has accepted and appreciated his status; appearing on the cover of Attitude magazine and at benefits for gay charities. The new tablois images, however, caused quite an uproar in the Spanish press.

The real twist is, however, that the man in the photo may actually be his sister ;whom he was reportedly congratulating after the announcement that she was pregnant.

Guti himself has yet to comment about the photo, but Spanish journalists have been chastised for trying to publicly out a well-known celebrity without proper information.
