Lets stop putting politicians on a pedestal. They can do absolutely anything that they want to and as long as they say they’ll do what we want we vote for them. Of course they fulfill about 10% of the campaign promises they gave, but then it just becomes a lesser of two evils doesn’t it?

Democrats, Republicans, Green Party, Libertarians: they are all politicians, and if they do their job well they are in office because of the plebes and now are having their pockets lined and their coffers filled by lobbyists, special interest groups, and fellow political chronies. It will go on and on, unless we as plebes say we cannot stand for it. For probably the only time in my gay life, I agree with Fundamentalist Zealots. If you lie to your wife/husband, cheat on your wife/husband, and steal the honor from your marriage, you are not fit to run this country. The simple fact is that if you can do this to the one person, you are supposedly committed to and love dearly, what the hell can you do to us poor voters that are just a statistic to get you elected? I think that the next set of bills to come out of this country should have the faces of Elizabeth Edwards and Dina Matos on the front. This money will serve as a reminder to the nation that we will not stand for our politicians to lie cheat or steal…from anyone.

John Edwards admits to extramarital affair

Former U.S. senator and Democratic presidential hopeful John Edwards admitted Friday to an extramarital affair. He denied being the father of the woman’s child, as had been alleged in tabloid reports. Edwards told the network that his rise from “a small town boy in North Carolina” who “came from nothing” to a successful lawyer, U.S. senator and national public figure “fed a self-focus, an egotism, a narcissism that leads you to believe that you can do whatever you want.” (CNN)

No alimony for wife of gay Former Gov. Jim McGreevey

Former Gov. James E. McGreevey will not have to pay alimony to his ex-wife, a judge ruled Friday in granting the couple a divorce after a tumultuous eight-year marriage that crumbled publicly when McGreevey acknowledged he was a “gay American.” A superior court judge ruled Friday that McGreevey, the nation’s first openly gay governor, must pay $250 a week, or $1,075 a month, in child support for his 6-year-old daughter with Dina Matos.

McGreevey, now a seminary student, said during the couple’s contentious divorce trial that he’s too poor to pay alimony. (365gay)

Via Huffington Post:

Things really have deteriorated between John McCain and the press: even the Wall Street Journal editorial board is turning on him. The famously conservative group publishes a column praising the economic policy of none other than Barack Obama:

The underreported economic news of the week is that Barack Obama favors a stronger dollar. Even better, he thinks a stronger greenback would help to reduce oil prices.
That at least is what the Democratic Presidential candidate told a town hall forum in Parma, Ohio, on Tuesday. “If we had a strengthening of the dollar, that would help” reduce fuel costs, he said, according to a Reuters dispatch ignored by most of the media. … We don’t know who is whispering in Mr. Obama’s ear about the dollar, but he’s on to a rich political vein.

From the Author:

During the fight to legalize gay marriage in Massachusetts, I set out on a Quixotic quest: to stalk Cardinal Sean O’Malley of the Archdiocese of Boston, with the vague idea that I might convert him from foe to friend if only he would agree to speak to me. Confession tells the story of the crazy Catholic kookery I found — and whatever germs of wisdom and humor I derived from it.

Scott Pomfret, federal prosecutor and practicing Catholic, struggles to reconcile faith with the Church’s attacks on gay marriage, gay adoption, gay seminarians, Capri pants, innate style, and anything else remotely homosexual. Convinced that a meeting with the Archbishop would foster homo-Catholic rapprochement and world peace, Pomfret pursues the prelate from pulpit to Chancery to state funeral, acquires a hardcore atheist boyfriend, and confronts a pack of motorcycle lesbians, gay priests, flaming friars, pious prelates, would-be Opus Dei homosexual monks, three “Hale” Marys, Father McSlutty, and homicidal orthodox bloggers along the way.
