Day 2: Freedom To Marry Week

ftm_logo

Let’s not “pussy foot” around it shall we. My girlfriend weaves a silver lining through everything and I am busy unraveling it. We are polar opposites. I fume and rant and rave. She cuddles and calms and coos.

“There have never been two more different people in the universe”. Don’t take my word for it…that is a quote from a good friend. She’s right. I’m the devil and my girlfriend is Pollyanna.

Want to hear another quote…from a straight friend that’s married with kids?

“You two are the happiest couple I’ve ever seen.”

…and she’s right. We are. Even though my devil is always trying to unravel those romantic details.

For some reason that I have no idea of explaining…we are. We are just right for each other. I could not think of anyone else fitting like this. Woman, man or farm animal. The great thing is that this friend sees that. She hopefully doesn’t see as much of that devil either…

She does see two women, but that’s really besides the point. What she has really done is quite flattering. She’s just looked at us…as two people…and seen that we fit, and have for quite some time. 13 years at the end of this month.

Don’t fear for my relationship safety now. I know what you’re thinking…she’s gone and jinxed it…but I haven’t.

Because as my girlfriend is weaving a beautiful tapestry around unicorns, vacations and Roman shades for the living room, I’m the devil sitting there picking and unraveling. But it’s OK. For some reason we fit, and since we both can see no other people fitting, why not let us get married.

Pollyanna and the devil…what a party that will be…

  1. You are lucky, my boyfriend and I are both ranters and ravers. But we’ve been together for 12 years next month. He does feed me well.

  2. Salude, Alan. I will count my blessings…and the number of tiles in the kitchen.

  3. You just fit. It’s beautiful. Good for you. It’s crazy that the state won’t recognize our families … yet they will recognize that drunken couple who got married on a lark in Vegas. How does that make sense?
