Transgender pornography has been downloaded by computers based in Vatican City
The New York Post reports a number of films, including several transgender adult movies, were discovered on a list of torrents that the TorrentFreak.com website claimed had been downloaded on computers within Vatican City – the headquarters of the Roman Catholic Church.
TorrentFreak.com, which is dedicated to file-sharing news, unearthed the download history from an IP address inside the Pope’s city of residence. It is not clear to whom it belongs.
While download levels in Vatican City were very low because of its small size, a number of films and TV programmes had been shared.
The New York Post claims that the list emerged after the same IP address, which is marked with the location ‘The Holy See – Vatican City State’, was later linked to a number of adult movie torrents – including films starring the trans porn actor Tiffany Starr.
Torrenting is a form of file sharing, which has become popular with fans of illegal downloads because it is harder for authorities to crack down on.
In February, a Freedom of Information request revealed that gay cruising websites were accessed 3,459 times, and porn websites were accessed 2,459, on computers used by MPs, peers and staff between May 2011 and July 2012 in the British Parliament.
In March, it emerged that the Catholic Church had bought a €23 million (£21 million) share of an apartment block in Rome which houses the biggest gay sauna in Europe.
“Batgirl #19” Reveals DC’s First Transgender (And Bisexual!) Character
When Batgirl #19 hit stands yesterday, it unveiled a wonderful surprise: Barbara Gordon’s roommate, Alysia Yeoh, is transgender. In a conversation in which Babs opened up about the story of how she was once paralyzed, and about all of the pain and misadventure that has gone along with being a target of the Joker, Alysia told her that she had an identity thing to reveal as well.
After the issue was released, writer Gail Simone spoke to Wired about it. Distinguishing between Alysia’s gender identity and sexual orientation, she told the magazine that in addition to being transgender, Alysia is also bisexual. She said the inspiration for the character came from a conversation with longtime Batwoman writer/re-launcher Greg Rucka.
I looked out into the audience [at Wondercon], saw dozens of faces I knew well — LGBTQ folks, mostly — all avid comics readers and superhero fans and DC supporters. And it just hit me: Why was this so impossible? Why in the world can we not do a better job of representation of not just humanity, but also our own loyal audience? … Look, we have a problem most media don’t have, which is that almost all the tentpoles we build our industry upon were created over a half century ago… at a time where the characters were almost without exception white, cis-gendered, straight, on and on. It’s fine — it’s great that people love those characters. But if we only build around them, then we look like an episode of The Andy Griffith Show for all eternity.
The Australian newspaper, the Daily Telegraph, reported that Sevigny “cried every day” when she had to wear a prosthetic penis for her new television series, “Hit & Miss.”
The “Big Love” star will play a pre-op transgender hit man named Mia. But she admitted the fake penis greatly upset her as she started to worry that men would no longer find her attractive.
“I cried every day when they put it on. You know, I’m ample-chested and I have this on,” Sevigny said. “I felt very exposed, and it was hard, very hard, having people so close to your personal parts anyway – who you’re not sleeping with – for an hour-and-a-half each day, to put it on.”
“Then looking in the mirror… it was weird. I was lonely and I felt really unattractive,” the 37-year-old actress added. “I was confused about my desirability – was I desirable? – in having put that on, and having men see me with that on.”
The “Gummo” actress went on to say that playing the transgender hit man was one of the most challenging roles she has ever done.
“I think it might be one of the most extreme roles I’ve done, yes. I’ve never really worked with prosthetics. I’ve never done any fantasy or anything weird. Then again, if people can believe what’s her-name in ’Avatar’, hopefully they can believe me as a pre-op,” she said.
Sevigny, who has a large gay following, has played in a number of “interesting” characters in the past, including a backwoods teen in “Gummo,” and a polygamist in the HBO series “Big Love.” She is also known for the controversial scene in Vincent Gallo’s “Brown Bunny” where she performs oral sex on him.
TheAdvocate: The “Chevalier D’Eon,” a 18th-century painting of a cross-dressing man, who may have identified as female at one point, recently sold to a British gallery.
The painting, by Thomas Stewart, depicts Chevalier D’Eon, who apparently lived quite a life of intrigue as a British-based employee of King Louis XV’s secret service. It’s believed D’Eon began dressing as a woman to evade capture after betraying the French government, eventually identifying as a woman until dying in 1810.
It was only recently revealed, thanks to restoration, that the Stewart painting portrayed a biological man in women’s clothing, instead of simply a biological woman. Ever since the British National Portraits Gallery purchased the painting from a New York dealer, the portrait has attracted much curiosity. It’s believed to be the earliest found painting of a gender-ambiguous person. Read more here.
PinkNews: The first transgender teenager to enter the Miss England competition is leading in her heat of the pageant.
The public vote is open for the heat 4 of the Miss Fresh Photographic competition, which Jackie Green, 18, currently leads with 189 votes.
Green, an aspiring model from Leeds, was the first trans woman to enter the competition, after she was approached by talent scouts at the Next Top Model show in London.
Speaking to the Sun, she said, “Miss England is a prestigious competition. I’d love to win. I’ve as good a chance as anyone.”
She had gender reassignment surgery at 16, after attending school as a girl from the age of 10, but knew she wanted to change gender from the age of four.
She hopes to use the exposure of the competition to raise awareness of bullying and issues surrounding trans people.
Because of bullying, Green attempted suicide five times when she was younger, but is grateful for the support of her mother. She said, “I can never thank my mum enough, she saved my life.”
Voting is open until 6 February, and the winner of each heat will go on to the semi-finals of the Miss England competition later this year.
